| Step 1. Open the back door on your Ford Escape.
Step 2. Locate and remove both screws holding in your factory tail light (do not lose the screws).
Step 3. After removing the screws from your factory light you may need to use a flat head screwdriver to (GENTLY!) pry the light away from the vehicle, due to the lock pin on the back of the unit.
Step 4. After removing the factory light take the socket extension, your new lights came with and plug it into the middle socket of your factory wiring harness. Therefore, once the tail light is installed, the middle bulb will then be connected to the top hole on the light, making the top light your turn signal.
Step 5. Once you have connected the extension, insert the bulbs into their appropriate holes (you may need to fiddle a bit for them to fit into the holes). Also, do not loose the rubber washers. They help to keep the lights in place and keep moisture out.
Step 6. Testing the bulbs before you screw the light in, is advised. Make sure that the lock pins line up with the holes on your Escape and gently "pop" the tail light in place. Now check to make sure the light is functioning correctly (have someone watch as you step on brake, then put in park/reverse etc).
Step 7. Once you have determined that the light is functioning you may proceed to screw in the tail light. Be careful not to over tighten which can result in "stripping" of the screws or cracking of the lens.
